What it includes

Kevin protects and refreshes the outside of your home with masonry paint, wood and metal coatings designed for the British climate. He covers full exterior repaints, sash windows, fascias, soffits, doors, garden walls and outbuildings — preparing every surface so the finish lasts through wet winters and hot summers.

What's involved

So you know exactly what Kevin will be doing in your home, and in what order.

  1. Survey of the elevations

Kevin looks at every elevation for blown render, cracked mortar, rotten timber, rusted metalwork and failed sealant, checks where ladders or a tower can safely stand, and flags anything that needs repair before painting rather than papering over it.

  2. Cleaning down

Render, brickwork, soffits and gutters are washed down to remove algae, moss, chalky old paint and traffic film, then treated with fungicidal wash where growth has taken hold. Paint will not bond to a dirty wall, so nothing is skipped here.

  3. Repairs and preparation

Loose render is cut out and made good, timber is scraped back to sound wood, filled with exterior filler and sanded, resinous knots are sealed, rust is wire-brushed and treated, and every bare surface gets the right primer for its material.

  4. Masking and protection

Windows, glass, door furniture, paths, drives and planting are sheeted and masked. Kevin works around drainpipes and lighting rather than over them, and lifts sheets each evening so gates and doors still work.

  5. Coating and final check

Two full coats of breathable masonry paint on walls and exterior-grade eggshell, satin or gloss on timber and metal, applied in the right weather window. Kevin then walks the outside with you, touches in and clears the site completely.

Timings, disruption and practicalities

  • Work is weather-dependent — Kevin paints in dry spells above roughly 8°C and will move dates rather than risk the finish.
  • A typical semi-detached exterior takes 4–7 days; render plus all timber on a detached house can run to two weeks.
  • Best months are April to October, though sheltered timber and doors can be done later in the year.
  • Scaffold or tower hire is quoted separately and clearly if the height needs it.
